one movie that just missed the cut on my top ten movie list was lost in translation. i just saw that movie and would want a few more viewings to see how it holds up. if it were to make my list, eventually, that would put two bill murray movies on my list: not necessarily the first name that jumps in your head as far as great actors. however, he is one of the few "funny-men" who can also do a somewhat more serious role without making me wretch (think jim carrey (come to think of it, his comic roles make me wretch), or robin williams). in both groundhog day and lost in translation, he gives sensitive performances - funny, yet not over the top and very human. when you then add tootsie, scrooged, and of course, his, um, less subtle, but hilarious performances in meatballs, caddyshack, ghostbusters and stripes - you got a nice little resume there... most of the movies listed i've seen hundreds of time, yet if i saw any one of them on tv tonight, i'd still watch it...
remember this, academy voters, when you cast your vote for best actor.
